PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
For this project, I was tasked with documenting the 2023 Winter Market's setup, vendors, and customers. Above are multiple photos that were featured on the department's social media accounts and a recap article.
REFLECTION:
This was a great experience, and I am extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to both assist in documenting the event and build my own photography portfolio. I took ART 2555/Photography 1 in Autumn 2023, and this course taught the basics of taking high quality photos. Although I appreciate the skills I learned throughout the semester, my projects were often very staged and did not provide experience in shooting fast-paced subjects. Documenting the Winter Market gave me the opportunity to apply my newly developed photography skills while contributing to documentation and future promotional materials for the department's annual event. I also learned more about photo editing while preparing to send these photos to those in charge of the market. Most significantly, I learned how to correct shadow colors and refine overexposed highlights. These have been extremely helpful in my photography as I continue to seek out opportunities to improve my skills.
